Most things are outside of your control. The one thing you do control is attitude—what you perceive, how you internalize and make sense or give meaning to the external. You choose whether you own “it” or not.
Some of us get all tied up in knots over stuff that happens outside of our control. If you try inserting “span of influence” for “span of control”—you may feel better and gain some power by letting go of the limiting idea that you control anything except your attitude.
Master one thing: master yourself!
The compelled and compelling are unstoppable. They are looking for that river of risk to cross. In fact, they can’t wait to ford it. Across the river lies uncertainty—to cross implies risk and failure, but, there is also victory and empire. Empire implies the sovereignty of the self. Rule the self as subject before you can provide others with the advantage of your strength.
