Ally or Adversary?

Fear is a primitive response to a perceived threat. It can be a protective and adaptive ally or a limiting, unforgiving adversary. No matter how intrepid you think you may be, you have fears, shadows of doubt, and perhaps deep seeds of insecurity–we either exist within the limits of our fears or live to the promise of our dreams.

Some may live a life without happiness, joy, and pleasure, but none of us can escape the grip of fear. We all have our fears–they vary by type, degree and severity. Attempting to run from these is to flee from your obligation to understand, accept, and contain the emotion.

Some may live a life without happiness, joy, and pleasure, but none of us can escape the grip of fear.

Once our minds begin to drift, we amble and then stumble down the path of worst case scenarios. We have a difficult time locating our emotional center if we fail to anchor our thought and contain the emotion of fear.

We hold the key to liberation and can release ourselves from some of the emotion’s negative grasp when we bring it to the light of conscious thought and understanding.

We have the choice to be free from the ebb and tide of its negative sway if we find the courage to locate the source of our fears. We can begin to understand the origin of our thoughts that create our fears and see them for what they are–ephemeral, transitory, passing through, not residing within us.
