In my first day of what was to become the rest of my life in this business, I opened an old desk drawer and found a paper clip, an eraser and a 6” ruler. The ruler was embossed with the head of a tiger and three words that read, “Activity Rules Success”.
There is an axiom in business that I use repeatedly and that is simply, if we don’t know it can’t be done we just do it. Activity Rules Success became my guiding mantra because if I thought I was going to survive, the rule of that ruler would probably be my only chance.
There is often brilliance in simplicity and we often look for the magic elixir. The magic elixir is simply work and when you combine work with intellect, a modicum of people skills and what any industry would recognize as ability, you may just have a chance to move forward.
Activity Rules Success is my first and foremost business law; it is “Res Ipsa Loquitur” (the thing speaks for itself) of sales success!
